Full course description

Description:

This course takes you on an anti-bias learning journey which you will find is a lifelong process. For some, this will be the beginning, filled with new language, unfamiliar ideas and, at times, uncomfortable revelations. For others, this will be an extension of your learning and an opportunity to deepen your exploration of bias, more sharply focus your anti-bias lens and develop new strategies. Breaking Down Bias is a timely, cooperative learning experience led by two ADL trained facilitators that empowers you to be a change agent in your classroom and school community.

Goals:

By the end of this course you will:

  • Learn how to build on the four pillars of ADL’s anti-bias framework: Explore Identity, Interpret Differences, Challenge Bias and Champion Justice.

  • Reflect on the role identity and language play in perspective-taking, bias and belonging.

  • Analyze the origins and impact of bias on our relationships, communities and society.

  • Develop strategies for challenging bias in yourself, your classroom and your schools.

Cost:

FREE! The registration fee and event fee for this online course have been waived thanks to generous funding from ADL.

Who:

Read what educators are saying about the course:

“What an incredible experience. For someone who has taken a handful of culturally competent teaching courses in the past, this has by far been the most effective for me as an educator. The modules modeled practices we could bring into the classroom or school environment, even at the elementary level - a true gift!”

Elementary Educator

“One of the strengths and gifts of this program was the ability to connect with other people in education. It was such a thoughtful, insightful and informative curriculum!”
